Lamborghini's one-make series makes a stop in Germany, amidst the curves of the historic Nordschleife. The Super Trofeo Europe arrived at its third round and put on a spectacular show on one of the most iconic tracks in motorsport history.
In Race 1 it was Michelotto and Stadsbader who led the way as in previous rounds. The Vincenzo Sospiri Racing crew started from Pole Position and held the lead without any problems throughout the race. Even at the driver change Stadsbader, who inherited the seat from Michelotto, retook the lead and then continued his race until the chequered flag, under which he brought the #6 Huracán Super Trofeo EVO 2 to triumph. Behind the two VSR drivers there was a battle for the podium. Brendon Leitch, at the wheel of the #86 Lamborghini of Leipert Motorsport tried at the end to keep up with his direct rivals for the title, but was unable to do so, as he eventually built up a gap of more than five seconds, partly due to a small mistake on his part. However, he still achieved a second place in a comeback against Schandorff and Au, who dropped back in the standings little by little. Bonduel, driver of BDR Competition with the #28, also made it onto the Pro Cup podium.
In Pro-Am the winners were the two Target Racing drivers in the #81 Lamborghini. The two even partly fought for the victory, but after Scandorff's stop, Au gradually slipped back to finish fifth. A special achievement was that of Ibrahim Badawy in the Am category. The young driver at just 17 years old became the first Egyptian to win a round of the Super Trofeo Europe, setting a new record with the colours of Lamborghini Roma by DL Racing. Closing out the victories in the first heat of the German weekend is the crew formed by Biglieri and Matic, who win in the Lamborghini Cup and bring home the second success of the season for the Bonaldi Motorsport Team.
In the second and final heat of the weekend it was Leitch who took the win. The Leipert Motorsport driver took the win in the closing stages, when he managed to overtake the Pro-Am pair Lewandoski and Spinelli of the VSR Team. The crew from the Romagna-based team still finished third, as they were also overtaken by Bonduel who finished second, but the #16 Huracán took the win in its class. Leitch with the win in a wet Race 2, due to the rain that fell before the start, also took back the championship lead from Michelotto and Stadsbader who finished in tenth.
In the Am class, it was Rindone who took the victory with the same colours that won the Pro Cup. The Italian finished ahead of the Feligioni and Kuppens duo, who in turn finished ahead of Anapoli and Randazzo of Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, who finished on the lowest step of the podium. In the Lamborghini Cup, on the other hand, the winners did not change. Biglieri and Matic took home a one-two that gives them their third win of 2023 in the ST E, ahead of the third Leipert Motorsport car with Krebs. Third were Keats and Martin with the Brutal Fish Racing Team.
The next round will be in Valencia at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo!
