Another year full of satisfaction for the Japanese team, which won the constructors' title for the third year in a row and the drivers' title for the second with Kalle Rovampera, as well as the co-drivers' title.
It was a season to remember for the Japanese team, who also confirmed their victory in the World Rally Championship. The year 2023 got off to a great start for Toyota, who, even as the first races dawned, made it clear to their rivals that they would be tough to beat on the different terrains of the World Rally Championship.
The constructors' title already arrived in South America, in the Chile stage. A third place by Evans/Martin together with a fourth place by Rovampera/Halttunen and a fifth place by Katsuta/Johnston was enough to secure first place in the world championship and close the games. With the results obtained Toyota GAZOO Racing won the title reserved for the constructors' classification, confirming what they have achieved in recent seasons, in which they have remained firmly in front of everyone.
Instead, the Central European round was also needed to decide the Drivers' Championship, where Kalle Rovampera together with Jonne Halttunen once again became champions after last year's victory. The young Nordic driver only needed to finish ahead of his colleague Evans to defend his title and crown, and so he did.
During the last round, the Irish driver in the #33 Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID went off the track, causing serious damage to the car, and as a result he fell far behind the leaders. On the contrary, Kalle only had to administer the advantage and finish in second position to win his second career title.
Now the last round to close the championship will be in Japan in mid-November. Toyota will then be able to celebrate this year's victories in their own homecountry.
