Yamaha Austria Racing Team world champion in the EWC together with BMC Air FIlter

The team equipped with the Iwata motorbike triumphed in the World Endurance Championship for two-wheelers, after waiting 14 long years since the last rainbow triumph.

YART won the EWC title at the last round in France, at Paul Ricard. At the Bol D'Or, an iconic race among endurance races for motorbikes, the Austrian team finished fourth, but the result was enough to take the crown.

This season the Yamaha R1 ridden by Niccolò Canepa, Marvin Fritz, and Karel Hanika took the podium in the opening race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After the second place in France came the victory in Belgium, at Spa-Francorchamps.

More difficult was the stage in Japan, at Suzuka, where the team only managed a 14th place. The points accumulated during the previous three rounds, however, allowed the Yamaha Austria Racing Team to arrive at Le Castellet, for the last 24 Hours of the year, in the right position to take the title. In fact, by finishing in fourth place the #7 crew was able to mathematically celebrate winning the championship, taking the title of world endurance champions.

An historic achievement for the entire team and BMC Air Filters, who as a partner helped support the project. This title is the second in the Endurance World Championship for the company from Emilia, after the one won in 2009, again with the Yamaha Austria Racing Team.
